If you’re looking for some FREE fun every Saturday, head down to the Sankofa Marketplace in the Ninth Ward.

The marketplace features a farmers market with fresh vegetables and seafood, a coffee bar and more.

Some of the regular vendors include Grilling Shelling (grilled burgers, ribs and chicken breast), Four Winds Seafood, Blue Tara Organic Blueberry Farm (organic blueberries), Katia’s Backyard (pecans, herbs and plants) and Today’s Special LLC (salsas, salad dressings and pies). There are also occasional live performances at the market.

Sankofa Marketplace is held at the corner of Caffin and St. Claude every Saturday of the month from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Click on this link for a brochure with a coupon good for a FREE reusable market bag.

On August 27 the market will move to the Holy Angels Complex at 3500 St. Claude Avenue.
