Oak Street Po-Boy Festival: November 20

Head down to Oak Street on November 20, 2011, for the Oak Street Po-Boy Festival.

All held in celebration of the almighty po-boy, the festival features great food, live music and more. There are 45 food booths in all featuring food from such restaurants as Cafe Reconcile, Boucherie, Palace Cafe, Squeal, GW Fins, Bourbon House and Jacques-Imo’s.

There is also great music on three stages. Some of this year’s performers include: Los Poboycitos, Rebirth Brass Band, Stooges Brass Band, Papa Grows Funk, Revivalists, 101 Runners and Mia Borders.

St. Bernard Farmers Market Every Saturday

Head out to Aycock Barn in historic Old Arabi every Saturday for the St. Bernard Farmers Market. It runs from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. and features fresh produce and seafood along with arts and crafts. There are also market exhibitions, live entertainment and children’s activities.

It’s their monthly concert series and features music by the Tin Men.

The concerts are $10 at the door and FREE for TNOC members. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and the music runs from 6-8 p.m.

Head to Lafayette Square today at 5 p.m. for a FREE concert with Dirty Dozen Brass Band and Jon Cleary’s Filthy Few. It is part of the Harvest the Music concert series.

The event is put on by the Magazine Street Merchants Association and features art openings, food, drink and live entertainment.

Head to Broussard’s Restaurant and Courtyard on Conti Street for the 2nd Annual French Quarter Oktoberfest on October 1, 2011.

The festival will feature traditional live German music, German beers and German food such as red cabbage, bratwurst, roasted pork shank, apple strudel and currywurst.
